16 June 2016

Congratulations to JC Svec and the entire MKA Fine & Performing Arts Department as the spring movie Something Wicked takes home a Bronze Telly Award in the Low Budget Video category! Founded in 1979, The Telly Awards honor the finest film and video productions, groundbreaking web commercials, videos and films and outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs. Today, the Telly is one of the most sought-after awards by industry leaders, from large international firms to local production companies and ad agencies. Their mission is to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting, and supporting creativity. The 37th Annual Telly Awards received over 13,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.

Written by recent MKA graduate Rachel Sobel and inspired by William Shakespeare's Macbeth, Something Wicked depicts the story of when tensions within a high school Student Council turn into a full-blown scandal, a group of teenage friends find themselves in the midst of a situation that is far more foul than fair. Something Wicked is a cautionary tale of ambition and strayed consciences in a high-pressure high school world.
