MKA's Student Athletic Council Organizes a Workshop for their Peers
MKA's belief in the importance of empowering and preparing students to take on meaningful leadership roles can be seen in action at a workshop being held later this week.
Members of MKA's Student Athletic Council (SAC) proposed a session on time-management for new student-athletes and then worked with school administrators to make it a reality. The resultant MKA Study Skills/Time Management Workshop is being held this Thursday, August 29 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. in Weiss Auditorium, and is open to all MKA athletes, while being mandatory for 9th, 10th and 11th grade pre-season fall athletes.
SAC members will share their own experiences of the ways in which they have managed the demands of balancing a rigorous academic and athletics program, and MKA teachers and coaches will add their advice.
"This is a tremendous example of our Student Athletic Council taking a lead role in their community." Notes Director of Athletics Todd Smith, "They worked really hard and I believe they've put together a great program that will really benefit their peers."
