MKA's Youngest Students Experience Farm to Table Firsthand

On September 19, MKA third grade students visited Alstede Farm in Chester, NJ with their Pre-K "Buddies" and experienced the concept of farm to table firsthand. While there, they picked over 35 boxes of green, yellow and purple beans and an entire large bin of tomatoes.
The next day, the students walked to deliver all the vegetables to Toni's Kitchen in Montclair. They toured the soup kitchen's dining room, kitchen and pantry and had the opportunity to ask questions of their tour guide. Dana Rose, MKA third grade teacher and Primary School Service Learning and Sustainability Coordinator, notes: "Toni's Kitchen was thrilled to get so many fresh vegetables and told us that they would probably feed about 90 people."
