New Chorale Work by MKA's Svane to be Premiered in Europe
On October 12, MKA Music Director Randall Svane will be the guest speaker at the German American Institute at the University of Tübingen, Germany. Svane will speak about his new choral work, REQUIEM FOR THE UNKNOWN commissioned by the Chamber Choir of Munich to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
Svane, who witnessed the attacks on the World Trade Center from his office at the MKA Upper School, will reflect on his memories of that day and how they impacted his creative work that deals with the themes of war, loss, grief and reconciliation. He will discuss the compositional process he utilized and how he chose the various texts employed within the work.
REQUIEM FOR THE UNKNOWN will receive its world premiere with the Chamber Choir of Munich on October 16 at the Prince Regenten Theater in Munich and will be recorded and broadcast nationwide by Radio Kultur in Germany on December 1st.
