PAMKA Holds Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the MKA Parents' Association (PAMKA) held earlier today was a time for reflection, celebration and transition as outgoing PAMKA President and graduating MKA parent Alex Nolan presided over her last meeting.
Presentations were made by Headmaster Thomas Nammack and President of the Board of Trustees Alice Hirsh (herself a past PAMKA President). Concluding with words of thanks and appreciation for the work that Alex has done as President, Nammack presented her with the "official" MKA sweater that can only be given and not purchased. In addition, PAMKA Faculty Trust Grant recipient Sue Tumarello, the Science and Technology Coordinator at the Brookside Campus, provided parents with first-hand insights into the value of this popular program.
Following approval of the Minutes, a Bylaw change and the 2010-11 Slate of Officers, Finance VP Bianca Bator reported on PAMKA's significant fundraising efforts this year, that have resulted in PAMKA being able to present gifts to MKA totalling $360,000. These gifts include five Faculty Trust grants for next year, a $195,000 gift to Faculty Compensation Endowment (bringing PAMKA's contributions to this fund to $2 million over the past 10 years) and numerous Wish List items for each of the campuses.
The morning concluded with the formal passing of the gavel from outgoing President Alex Nolan to incoming President Karen Ross.
