PAMKA's Second Internship Auction a Resounding Success

16 February 2011

Congratulations to event chair Linda Sterling and her committee of parents for a highly successful "All That We Love" Internship Auction held on February 15.  This is the second year that the stand-alone event has been held in conjunction with the PAMKA Spring Fundraiser, and this year there were 36 summer internships and shadowing opportunities on offer.

Open to MKA juniors, seniors and college-age alumni in the classes of 2008-10, the auction provided experiences in fields as diverse as engineering, travel, law, design, finance and music. Reflecting on his own career path, new MKA parent Richard Besser, former Head of the CDC and current Health Correspondent for ABC News, gave the keynote address, noting the value of such opportunities that enable students to go outside their comfort zone and try new experiences.

In addition for raising funds to support MKA Faculty Trust grants, school Wish List items and faculty endowment, the Internship Auction provides a remarkable service and opportunity to students and families at a time when competition for meaningful summer experiences is greater than ever.
