Rescheduled Date for MKA Book Fair Luncheon with Author and Historian Deborah Davis

05 November 2012

PAMKA's 'Guest of Honor' Book Fair Luncheon with author and historian Deborah Davis has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 27 and there's still time to make a reservation!

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear Davis discuss her latest book, Guest of Honor: Booker T. Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, and the White House Dinner That Shocked a Nation, at a very special luncheon at the Highlawn Pavilion, West Orange, on Tuesday, November 27 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

In reviewing Guest of Honor, author Betty DeRamus wrote, "This is history that excites. This is history that inspires. And this is history that will make readers sit up all night." While Publishers Weekly noted, “In fluid prose and with clear respect for her subject matter, Davis paints a vivid picture of race relations at the turn of the 20th century – a story resonating with today’s fraught political and racial landscape.”

Organized by MKA's Parents' Association as part of their annual Book Fair, the event will feature a sit-down luncheon (Highlawn Pavilion was recently voted Critics’ Pick Best American Restaurant and Readers’ Choice Best Romantic Restaurant in the 2012 New Jersey Magazine’s NJ Best Of Awards) book sales and a basket raffle.  Davis, author of books such as The Oprah Winfrey Show: Reflections on an American Legacy, The Fabulous Story of Truman Capote and His Black and White Ball and Strapless: John Singer Sargent and the Fall of Madame X, will be available for a book signing following her presentation.
