Upper School students meet with success in National French Exams
Several Upper School students received high rankings in the 2009 National French Contest.
In French Level II, taken by 760 students in New Jersey, junior Taylor Hatch ranked 6th in the state and 7th nationally, and freshman Mirsada Abdool Raman and junior Chelsea Strickland both placed 7th in the state and 8th nationally.
In French Level III, taken by 732 students in New Jersey, sophomore Alexa Burzinski placed 3rd in the state and 6th nationally, junior Michelle Espitia and sophomore Meredith Moran placed 4th in the state and 7th nationally, and sophomore Sydney McNeal placed 8th in New Jersey.
In French Level IV, taken by 598 students in New Jersey, senior Nathalie Cernasov placed 9th and junior Alexis Cassola placed 10th in the state, and in French Level V, taken by 284 students in New Jersey, seniors Giri Nathan placed 5th in the state and 8th nationally, Mary Labowsky placed 7th in the state and 10th nationally and Olivia Shepard placed 9th and Emma Shepard placed 10th in New Jersey.
The Foreign Language program at MKA begins in Pre-Kindergarten with French or Spanish, Latin is offered from 4th grade and Mandarin Chinese will be offered to students in grades 7 and above starting in the fall.
