MKA Announces New Head Girls' Basketball Coach

29 May 2009

The Montclair Kimberley Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of MaeOla Bolton as Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach.

A graduate of Auburn University, Coach Bolton was a former NCAA Division I All-American, four time All-SEC player, and captain of the Lady Tigers who made it to the Woman’s Final Four in 1988.  Coach Bolton was named to the USA National Woman’s Basketball Team in 1986 and 1987.  She played professional basketball in Italy and in the WNBA with the Detroit Shock.  Following her playing career Coach Bolton had coaching stints at the University of Florida and Tulane University where she served as the top assistant for both programs.  She has a vast experience at the high school, AAU, and travel/club level, coaching various teams during her career in Maryland and Virginia.

Throughout her coaching career, Coach Bolton has done an outstanding job of working with young athletes to help them reach their potential both on and off the court.  Her enthusiastic approach and knowledge of the sport of basketball and her rapport with student athletes made her an ideal candidate for the Head Varsity Girls’ Basketball position.  Coach Bolton brings a wealth of experience as a former player and coach and will be a tremendous asset to the MKA Department of Athletics and specifically, to the Girls’ Basketball Team.  Coach Bolton’s level of enthusiasm and clear vision for our program now and into the future will bode well for the MKA Girls’ Basketball Team.  We are excited that she has agreed to join the MKA coaching staff and we know she is eager to start working with the team this summer.

With her first-hand experience of what it takes to compete and succeed at both the high school, college, and national level, we are confident that Coach Bolton will have an immediate impact on the Cougar Basketball program.
