MKA Announces the Next Head of Primary School
MKA is thrilled to welcome Mr. Yungjin Oh as the next Head of Primary School. He will officially join Montclair Kimberley Academy on July 1, 2022.
The Head of Campus Search Committee, co-chaired by Dr. David Flocco and Ms. Karen Newman, conducted a robust and inclusive process, deftly incorporating comprehensive feedback from students, faculty, staff, parents, administrators, and Trustees. The group was honored both by the interest of the diverse, experienced candidates and by the opportunity to hear their positive perceptions and reflections of their visits to MKA.

Mr. Oh, his wife Agnes, and their two daughters will move to Montclair in the summer of 2022. They have lived in Europe for 15 years and are looking forward to the opportunity for their family. Most recently, Mr. Oh has served as a professor and project leader in the Department of Informatics and Education Technology at the St. Gallen University of Teacher Education in Switzerland.
Prior to his role at St. Gallen, Mr. Oh was Director of Primary School and Director of Education Technology at Formatio Privatschule located in Triesen, Liechtenstein. He also worked as a Grades 1 and 2 teacher at the International School Rheintal (Buchs, Switzerland) and as a Grade 4 teacher at The American School in Switzerland (Montagnola, Switzerland). Before moving abroad for the past 15 years, Mr. Oh worked as a Grade 4 teacher at Shore Country Day School in Beverly, Massachusetts.
After graduating from Hamilton College in 1998, Mr. Oh moved to New York City and worked as a media planner for 5 years at various advertising agencies. Leaving the advertising world behind, he followed his passion to teach by moving to Boston to work at Shore Country Day School and pursue a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at Lesley University.
Mr. Oh is passionate about young people, education, and learning. He has a track record of innovation, high standards, and developing international connections between all the schools where he worked. Mr. Oh and his family are excited to join the MKA community and share their international life experiences with others.
