MKA Fencer meets with National Success
Rising senior foilist Chrissy McIntosh has enjoyed a remarkable summer of success on the national fencing circuit.
In June, at the Pomme de Terre Tournament held at Brandeis University, she finished 8th out of 68 competitors in the Senior Women's Foil Event. Three weeks later she traveled to the USFA Summer National Championships held in Grapevine, Texas. Finishing in the top third in the Under 19's event, she went onto finish 7th out of 80 entrants in the most competitive Division 1A Women's Foil event, earning her "B" rating, finished 10th (out of 133 qualifiers) in the Division 2 competition, and then went on to sucessfully win the gold medal and title of National Champion in the Division 3 Women's Foil competition, which fielded 107 qualifiers.
"This is really exciting news," said MKA varsity fencing coach Kerry Verrone. "Finishing 7th at Div 1A, winning the Div 3 event, and earning her "B" rating, the second highest one can get, is just incredible. Chrissy's may be our most accomplished fencing results in many, many years!"
