MKA Junior Selected for Prestigious Scholars Program

15 April 2013

Many congratulations to MKA junior Elliot Furbert who has been selected as a 2013 New Jersey Scholar.

As described on the New Jersey Scholars Program’s website, “NJSP is an intensive inter-disciplinary academic summer program for thirty-nine of the most intelligent, outgoing, and highly motivated New Jersey residents who have completed their junior year and are “rising seniors,” entering their senior year September.”

The designation enables Furbert to participate in the highly prestigious New Jersey Scholars five-week summer program held at the Lawrenceville School. The topic for this year’s program is Immigration: Demographic Disaster of Cultural Recreator? and Furbert and his fellow Scholars will spend their time attending lectures and seminars and researching and debating the issue.

MKA faculty member Dennis Hu, Furbert’s advisor for the past two years, notes: “Elliot is one of the most dedicated and motivated students I've known. He is very talented and I'm sure that he will benefit greatly from participating in the program.”
