11 September 2009

Randy Richardson, MKA '06 and a current senior at Princeton University, was in China this summer for the 8th annual Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students.  The competition, designed to stimulate foreign students enthusiasm for learning Chinese, provdes students the opportunity to display their proficiency in the language and to demonstrate their understanding of the culture.

Over 100 students from more than 60 countries participated in the televised competition, and Randy was one of only six First Prize winners, and was the only American among those winners. He received a trophy and a certificate in a leather-bound folder; the certificate indicating that he has earned the title of 'Chinese Language Messenger." As a result, if he chooses to earn a master's degree in China (in any subject), his studies will be paid for.
